Elliott (@donoelliott) is riding the Golden Gravel Trail from Cape Girardeau, MO to Port Orford, OR; a journey of about 4,000 miles. He was 1,600 miles into this journey and in Salida when his rear tire stopped holding air. He reached out to the collective for help, and a couple plugs and some more sealant later he was back on the road. He is such an inspiration, says that he infrequently rode his bike prior to this journey and just wanted some adventure in his life. We are honored to touch people like Elliott on his journey and all of the other journeys we intersect with along the way, all united by the love of two-wheeled travel. Hopefully the day will come soon where Chaffee Cycle Collective is a brick and mortar building where people can gather, learn, and repair together.

Another great rig out the door! Marvin wanted a way to get around town with his canine companion Penny. We were able to get him set up with this sweet Giant MTB and Burley trailer and they rode off together into the sunset. Building a community around bikes and keeping useful gear out of the landfill gets us fired up! Make sure to join if you haven’t already.

Zac wanted a bike to ride to work to save on gas and get more@active with his wife, but didn’t want to spend $1-2000. We got him set up with a very cool old school MTB and he’s loving it! Bikers don’t look a certain way, they don’t dress a certain way, and they don’t make a certain amount of money. They just like riding bikes.

CCC is stoked to announce our launch event: a screening of T.C. Johnstone’s “In The Dirt”. Monday May 11th at 6PM, Salida Steamplant. In 2018, retired pro cyclist Scott Nydam and his family moved to Gallup, New Mexico to pursue a healthcare job for his wife. Soon after their arrival, Scott began meeting passionate mountain bikers across the 28,000-mile expanse of the Navajo Nation who loved the bike and wanted to bring the sport to their communities. The only problem is no bike shops existed. Through a grassroots native-led effort, this group of dedicated cyclists and their families have overcome countless odds to build a cycling culture that today has become the fastest-growing recreational sport on the Navajo Nation. Come find out what CCC is all about and watch this epic film about bikes as community-builders. We will have a brief presentation about our plans prior to the film as well as ample opportunities to donate or become a member of the collective. Proceeds will fund CCC’s work!
